Organizational Goals

Mission Statement
The Florida Association of Professional Geologists, a Section of AIPG, was
formed to protect, enhance, and promote the Professional Geology profession
within the state of Florida.
Strategies and Goals
Increase membership to a level that represents an overwhelming
industry majority.
- Communicate with members who have not renewed and
encourage them to rejoin the association.
- Inform potential members of the benefits of
membership and invite them to join.
- Foster communication among members through
publications, chapter meetings, and conferences.
- Offer individual incentives and recognition for
membership.
Seek equitable treatment of Professional Geologists by the legislature
and any other governmental body involved with matters of interest to the
profession.
- Monitor and report on the activities of the
Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the DBPR Board of
Professional Geologists and its staff.
- Monitor and report on the activities of the
Legislature, including the House Committee on Business Regulation and
Consumer Affairs and the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries.
- Monitor and report on allied organizations, such
as the Florida Engineering Society and the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection.
- Cooperate with and assist the enforcement and
discipline activities of the DBPR license enforcement and investigative
services staff.
- Maintain the FAPG-AIPG website, offering prompt
replies to inquiries and a central source of links, so that both
licensed and lay persons will better understand the profession of
geology in Florida.
Create a communication system to inform members about important state
information and to educate the public about the industry.
- Communicate regularly with all members through
frequent newsletters highlighting developments in the PG profession.
- Invite members to access the FAPG-AIPG website at
fapg.aipg.org for calendar notices, organization news, guest
commentary, photos, DBPR board activities, Florida news clips, and
related links.
- Respond quickly and professionally to members’
calls, faxes, and e-mail inquiries.
- Cooperate with the DBPR Board of Professional
Geology to promote activities and disseminate information.
- Publish of a directory of FAPG-AIPG
members and their specialization on the association’s website.
Evaluate and enhance the financial strength of the Organization.
- Monitor and regulate the expenses of the
association to ensure the highest levels of financial responsibility to
the membership.
Create a network of regional leaders empowered to host education
networking meetings in their area.
- Identify leaders in the profession throughout the
state.
- Provide staff support to facilitate program
marketing and empower volunteers.
- Promote calendar of regional seminars in
newsletter.
- Join forces with local and regional chapters to
organize regional meetings, study groups, and field trips in conjunction
with local geological societies and other interested associations.
